Iranian cinema is influential beyond borders: Iran`s culture minister

TEHRAN,Feb.5(MNA) – Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Hosseini believes that Iranian cinema is active beyond the borders, pointing to the two movies “33 Days” and “Saturday Hunter”. Speaking at the People, Cinema and Awakening Conference on Saturday, the minister stressed that the Islamic countries can make the best use of media, cinema and theater to fight against the United States and the Zionist regime. The one-day conference opened at the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) International Conference Hall attended by the guests of the second conference on Hollywoodism and Cinema in Tehran. Iran is also ready to cooperate with the Islamic countries in cinema and theater productions, he added. “The Islamic Revolution of Iran was a valuable experience for other Islamic countries and the awakening of the people lead the revolution to victory,” he added. “The Islamic Republic of Iran has made great achievements over all these years and we are ready to host different delegations from other countries to closely observe the role of Iranian cinema in clarifying the objectives of the Revolution,” he said. “33 Days” by director Jamal Shurjeh, is an Iranian film on the Israeli 33-Day War of 2006 against Lebanon. The movie was screened in Syria, Turkey, Lebanon and Tunis last year. Parviz Sheikhtadi’s “Saturday Hunter” was also warmly received in Iranian theater halls last year. The movie narrates the story of a Jewish widow who marries a Christian man. The grandfather of her son asks her to bring his grandson to spend a short time with him, after which the boy can decide whether to stay with his mother or his grandfather. Hosseini also stated that there has been good collaboration between the artists of the Islamic countries and these meetings promote friendship among the Muslim nations.
