Iranian cultural attaché visits officials of National Library of Greece

TEHRAN,Feb.4 – The Iranian cultural attaché in Athens Mohammadreza Pakravan met with National Library of Greece officials last week. Accompanied by the Acting Charge d’Affaires Mohammad Rabiei, he paid a visit to the National Library of Greece Deputy Director Antonia Arahova and head of the library’s board of directors Haralampos Moutsopoulos. “Iran has thousands of years of bright and rich culture and I myself am really in love with Iranian civilization and culture,” Moutsopoulos mentioned during the meeting. He said that Iran has numerous academic and scientific developments in the field, so cooperation between the national libraries of the two countries would benefit both Iranians and Greeks. He asked for further cooperation between the National Library of Greece and Iran’s National Library and Archives (INLA). “The National Library of Greece cooperates with several other national libraries of other countries and we welcome further cooperation with INLA as well,” Arahova mentioned during the event. The two libraries have already signed agreements and the heads of the libraries previously have visited each other, Rabiei noted during the meeting. He also stressed on the importance of cooperation between the two libraries and announced that the attaché’s office is ready to assist in increasing cooperation, The cultural attaché’s office gave 200 copies of the book published by the office to the National Library of Greece at the end of the meeting. The National Library of Greece is situated near the center of city of Athens. It was designed by the Danish architect Theophil Freiherr von Hansen, as part of his famous Trilogy of neo-classical buildings that include the Academy of Athens and the original building of Athens University.
