Iranian filmmaker Dariush Merjuii to publish new novel

TEHRAN,March 14(MNA) -- Iranian director Dariush Merjuii will publish his second novel “In the Magian Tavern” in the near future.
The novel is about a young Iranian man who leaves his homeland to study in an American university. Due to his religious questions, he chooses to study philosophy. He then is interested in the political issues in the United States after the terrifying events of 9/11.
The novel will be released by the Qatreh Publications, which printed his first novel “For the Sake of a Damned Feature-Length” in 2009.
The Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance authorized the novel after Mehrjuii agreed to modify some parts of his work, Qatreh official Shahram Eqbalzadeh said.
A graduate of UCLA in philosophy, Mehrjuii has previously translated Antonio Moreno’s “Jung, Gods and Modern Man” and Michael Talbot’s “The Holographic Universe”.
He also rendered Eugène Ionesco’s “The Lesson” and “The Bald Soprano”, Herbert Marcuse’s “The Aesthetic Dimension”, Sam Shepard’s “Buried Child” and “True West” into Persian.
