Iranian filmmaker to document Middle East uprisings

TEHRAN,March 7(MNA) -- Iranian director Mohammadreza Eslamlu planned to make a docudrama about the uprisings that hit some countries in the Middle East over the past year. Entitled “Sword and Dragon”, the film will be shot in the four countries of Syria, Turkey, Lebanon and Italy, Eslamlu told on Monday. Eslamlu, who is also producing the film, added that the film centers on recent events including Israeli 33-Day War of 2006 against Lebanon. The docudrama is actually a continuation of the political documentary “The 9/11 Black Box”, he said, adding that three French actors, five Lebanese and several Iranian actors have been invited to collaborate in the project. The film’s title obviously refers to the term ‘9/11 black box’, which was frequently used by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in his speech at the UN headquarters in New York. Eslamlu is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. His other credits include “Seyyed’s Garden” and “Over Faw”, both about the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war.
