Iranian filmmaker Kiarostami to hold workshops at Spanish filmfest

TEHRAN,Feb.18(MNA) -- Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami will hold a series of workshops at the Ibn Arabi Film Festival (IBAFF) in the Spanish southeastern city of Murcia. Although the festival will be held from March 5 to 10, the workshops entitled “Kiarostami: A Look at Cinema” will open on February 28 and will be running until March 9. The workshops have been targeted at filmmakers who will learn how to direct cast members and how to communicate with actors, the organizers announce on the festival’s website. Screenwriters and actors are also allowed to participate in the courses. Several Iranian films will be screened in the various sections of the festival. Alireza Amini’s “A Petition for Allah”, which is about a man who searches for his wife after 20 years of separation to ask her to forgive him, will compete in the feature-length film category. “Once Again Memories I Loved” by director Elika Rezaii and “When You Get Lost” by Qasem Ansari will screened in the short film category. Payam Zeinalabedini’s “Invitation”, a documentary about Iraqi people’s ardor for Imam Hussein (AS) under the U.S. occupation of Iraq, will premiere in event. In addition, Iranian scholar and critic Bahman Maqsudlu has been selected for the festival’s jury.
