Iranian filmmaker Rahimzadeh `s movie “Philadelphi” tells story of Gaza tunnels

TEHRAN,Feb.6(MNA)–Iranian filmmaker Esmaeil Rahimzadeh expressed his sympathy with the Palestinians in his movie “Philadelphi”. “I have always wanted to do something for the people of Gaza and depict their bravery and resistance against the Zionist regime, but never had the chance,” Rahimzadeh said at the press conference held after the movie screening at the 30th edition of the Fajr International Film Festival in Tehran’s Milad Tower on Saturday. “Philadelphi” tells the story of an aid group who tries to take food and medicine to Gaza through an underground tunnel dug between Egypt and the Gaza Strip. Film producer Ezzatollah Jamei Nadushan next talked about the problems they faced through the production process, adding that Iran’s Documentary and Experimental Film Center (DEFC) was a great help. He said that if sufficient budget was allocated to the film, they would have invited actors from Lebanon and Syria to play, “However, we only decided to make use of non-stars in this movie.” Filmmaker Mojtaba Asadipur, Rahimzadeh’s co-director also present at the session, admitted that the movie is not void of weak points and that following the producer’s request, the project was made with two directors. Film critic Gholamabbas Fazeli also said that the movie enjoys a standard level of special effects. Special effects supervisor Ravanbakhsh Sadeqi, also present at the session, said that most of the scenes are related to the special effects. “We also made use of the films produced by the Islamic resistance movement Hamas to show Gaza bombardments in our film.”
