Iranian library, Indian university sign MOU
TEHRAN,March 11(MNA) -- The Iran National Library and Archives (INLA) and India’s Aligarh Muslim University has signed a memorandum of understanding urging collaboration on bibliographies and the restoration of Persian manuscripts.
The memorandum was signed during the INLA Director Es’haq Salahi’s visit to the university last week.
“The university keeps about 16,000 manuscripts, about 8,000 of which are in Persian,” Salahi told on Saturday.
Salahi, who has also paid a visit to the National Archives of India in Calcutta, said that the director of the archives is scheduled to travel to Iran to attend the National Day of Documents and Written Heritage in May.
During the visit, the INLA and the Indian archives will sign an agreement, which will enable Iran to prepare copies and bibliographies from over 25,000 Persian manuscripts kept at the archives, he stated.
Established in 1891 The National Archives of India is affiliated with the country’s Ministry of Culture.
