Iran`s “The Sound of Rain” wins Golden Egg at Iraqi-German filmfest

TEHRAN,Dec.19(MNA) -- The short film “The Sound of Rain” made by Iranian director Jalal Saedpanah won the best film award at the Berlin-Duhok International Film Festival which was held in Duhok in Iraq’s Kurdistan region. The film grabbed the festival’s Golden Egg Prize during a ceremony which was held at the University of Duhok on Saturday night. At the ceremony, the head jury member Mehmet Aktas mentioned the reasons for picking “The Sound of Rain” as the best short film of the festival saying that the film “narrates a small story in cinematic structure which impact audiences with cinematic language by a powerful director. “The film conveys the bitter reality through satire and these are the reasons for granting the award to the movie,” he concluded. “The Sound of Rain” is about a craftsman names Yadi who lives alone in a little hut atop one of the city’s roofs. He builds bird cages and trains some birds. The only one disturbing his peace is a small Mongolian boy who loves Yadi above everything Jalal Saedpanah, 45, is an Iranian filmmaker from Kordestan province. He studied acting and film at the University of Kordestan in Sanandaj. Later, he worked as assistant director and employee at the Iranian House of Cinema. Since 1991, he has participated as an actor and an assistant director in several film projects.
