Persian painter Farshchian creating tableau on Prophet Abraham (AS)
TEHRAN,Jan.9(MNA) -- Master of Persian painting Mahmud Farshchian is drawing a tableau on Prophet Abraham (AS).
The tableau features Prophet Abraham (AS) while he was catapulted into the fire and his rescue by angles, Farshchian told .
According to the Quran, the king of Babylon, Nimrod, decided to burn Abraham (AS) to death. Abraham’s hands and feet were chained, and he was put in a catapult to throw him into the fire.
At that time, Angel Gabriel came to him and said: “O Abraham! Is there anything you wish for?” He answered: “I only wish that Allah be pleased with me.”
The catapult was released, and Abraham was thrown in the heart of the fire. But Allah ordered the fire: “O fire! Be cool and safe for Abraham!” The fire burned only his chains and the fire turned into a beautiful garden for Abraham (AS).
Farshchian, 82, studied painting under the supervision of Haj Mirza Aqa Emami and Isa Bahadori. He later traveled to Europe where he studied painting and conducted research in museums for several years.
Farshchian’s masterpieces have been hosted by numerous museums and exhibitions worldwide. He is recognized as the most important modernizing influence in the field of miniatures. His name has been registered on Britain’s list of 2000 Outstanding Intellectuals of the 21st century and collectors feel it a great honor to possess one of his creations.
