Persian poet Sohrab Sepehri’s Land Rover goes on show at Tehran exhibit
TEHRAN,Feb.15(MNA)-- Persian poet and painter Sohrab Sepehri’s car, which is a British Land Rover manufactured in 1970, was put on display in an exhibition in Tehran on Tuesday.
The car has been loaned by Sepehri’s family for the exhibit, which is dedicated to a collection of classic 4-WD cars.
The Islamic Revolution Mostazafan Foundation, the owner of the Iran Historic Car Museum, has organized the three-day show at the museum.
A special place has been allocated to Sepehri’s car and a collection of his poems and photos has also been showcased at the exhibit.
Sepehri’s mother Mahjabin Sepehri sold the Land Rover to collector Bijan Aslani after his death in 1980, but the Foundation for Preservation and Publication of Sohrab Sepehri’s Works purchased the car in 2002.
In part of her book “Sohrab, the Migratory Bird”, which was published in 1996, Sepehri’s sister Paridokht wrote about the car.
Sohrab Sepehri (1928-1980) is second only to poet Nima Yushij, who is known for his pure style of blank verse.
As a talented artist and a gifted poet, Sepehri came to prominence with the publication of “The Water’s Footfall”.
His works have been translated into English, French, Italian and Spanish languages.
The international regional auction houses have focused on his watercolor paintings over the past few years.
Sepehri died of leukemia in Tehran in 1980. His grave is located in the courtyard Imamzadeh Sultan Ali ibn Muhammad Baqir (AS) in the village of Mashhad-e Aradahal near the city of Kashan.
