President: Turkmenistan never politicized economic cooperation

Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, Nov.22 / Trend H. Hasanov / Turkmenistan has never politicized and is not politicizing economic cooperation, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov said in an interview with Chinese media outlets. On Tuesday, the interview was published in local media. "This fact is well understood and highly appreciated by our partners, allows us to develop equal and mutually beneficial relations with various countries and companies," President Berdimuhammadov said. He said following the policy of diversification of energy flows and creating multivariant pipeline infrastructure, Turkmenistan, along with use of traditional routes, implemented two new major projects to supply its energy resources to the world markets: Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline and the new gas pipeline Turkmenistan-Iran. Berdimuhammadov stressed that another major energy project - the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline is in the final stage of preparation. At the same time projects in the European direction are being actively discussed. "All our achievements in this field, the successful implementation of joint international projects is mainly due to the neutrality of Turkmenistan," he said. Close and multi-aspect cooperation with the UN remains a strategic priority for Turkmenistan. "We see it as a backup abutment of all the modern system of global interaction, guarantor of the preservation and maintenance of peace and balance of interests in global arena, sustainability of the existing security architecture".
