Saudi ambassador: NAC approval remarkable day in Bahrain's history

Manama, Feb. 15. (BNA) – Saudi Ambassador to Bahrain Dr. Abdulla bin Abdul-Malik Al-Shaikh has asserted that February 14, 2001, was a remarkable day in Bahrain's history.
He said it was a day in which the best images of love, loyalty, solidarity and cohesion were portrayed by the Bahraini citizens, who affirmed their loyalty to the nation and its leadership, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
In a statement to the Bahrain News Agency (BNA) on the anniversary of the adoption of the National Action Charter (NAC), the ambassador said that the Bahraini people's rallying behind the leadership through endorsing the NAC document by a sweeping majority of 98.4% represented a major turning point in the kingdom's history, promoted Bahrain's status regionally and globally, and consolidated political reform and constitutional institutions that meet the aspirations of the Bahraini people.
He added that Bahrain's landmark development, economic and cultural achievements attained as a result of the National Action Charter have promoted it as a beacon and a role model in this regard, which, he affirmed, proves the wisdom and sound vision of HM the King.
He pointed out that Bahrain had embraced civilisations in the past, and become a leading country in the present regarding the relationship between the rulers and the citizens and the freedom of expression, guaranteed by the constitution.
The Saudi envoy noted that NAC represented the cornerstone of the pioneering Reform Project spearheaded by HM the King to enhance Bahrain's progress and security.
Ambassador Dr. Abdulla bin Abdulmalik Al-Sheikh extended sincere congratulations to HM the King, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, and the Bahraini people on NAC anniversary.
