Tehran exhibit explores 19th century Ukraine

TEHRAN,Feb.25(MNA) -- An exhibition of photos displaying pictures taken in the Ukraine during the 19th century opened in Tehran on Thursday. Ukrainian Ambassador Oleksandr Samarsky and number of envoys from Georgian Republic, Denmark, Belgium, and Slovakia attended the opening ceremony at the Golestan Palace Museum. Twenty-five photos from the cities of Odessa and Crimea, which had been taken by a Russian photographer, have been put on display at the weeklong exhibit that has been organized to celebrate the 20th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Iran and the Ukraine. Iran and the Ukraine enjoy profound cultures, Samarsky said and expressed hope that the exhibit would boost cultural ties between the two nations. He also said that his country is ready to host a similar show for Iran. The Golestan Palace Museum is located at Panzdah-e Khordad Square in downtown Tehran. The palace hosted an exhibition of Qajar-era photos of Georgian nationals in June 2010 during a celebration for the National Day of Georgia.
