Tehran institute to host Austrian harmonica virtuoso Bertl Mayer

TEHRAN,Feb.18(MNA) -- The renowned Austrian harmonica virtuoso Bertl Mayer will share his artistic experiences during a meeting at Tehran’s Central Book City on Saturday. Mayer traveled to Iran to participate in the 27th Fajr International Music Festival and will hold the meeting cosponsored by the Austria cultural attaché office in Tehran. He will talk about his artistic experiences and his reasons for choosing this musical instrument during the event. Born in Vienna, Mayer got his first piano lessons as a child from his father, a professional pianist and entertainer. Later on when he was 16, he began studying the chromatic harmonica and is largely self-taught. In the following years, he became familiar with many musicians in the Austrian scene in a wide style range from rock to jazz, Viennese folk music and even excursions in the dramatic and serious areas of classical and contemporary works. Since 1993, he became member of the Alegre Correa Group, consisting of Austrian and Brazilian musicians and named after the Vienna resident guitarist and composer. He had several tours to Brazil and held numerous concerts all over Europe. The venue is located on Shariati St. near Mo’allam intersection on the corner of Kalateh Valley.
