UAE-led vaccination campaign against measles and polio in Pakistan concludes

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sept 26, 2012 (WAM) - The UAE project to help Pakistan announced the completion of vaccination campaign in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan in which 20,000 children were vaccinated against measles and polio.
The Administration of UAE project to help Pakistan said in a statement the campaign, which comes as per the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and orders of His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, saw great number of people brining their children for immunisation against measles and polio.
It also pointed that the implementation of the humanitarian drive was aimed at supporting heath awareness campaigns in Pakistan and curbing the spread of epidemics in the flood affected areas especially among children in addition to supporting the global efforts and initiatives to eliminate measles and polio.
During the campaign five health centres were established in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and around 60 doctors and nurses worked round the clock to administer vaccine to children and school students who came in great number.
The administration of the UAE Project to help Pakistan thanked and expressed gratitude to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Gen. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces for their directives and orders in launching this humanitarian initiative to protect Pakistani children from epidemics and dangerous diseases. It also hailed this initiative which is an addition to the continuous humanitarian initiatives from the UAE's wise leadership to assist world's children. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
