US – GCC strategic alliance stressed

Manama, Apr.22 (BNA): US Ambassador William Roebuck has today affirmed Washington’s resolve to protect the security and stability of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states. "My country’s will continue consolidating its alliance with Bahrain and other GCC countries so as to stave off any regional subversive designs", he said. In a statement to Bahrain News Agency (BNA), he said the meeting between US President Barack Obama and The GCC leaders, set for May 13 and 14 in Camp David, would focus on bolstering security regional cooperation and , settling multiple conflicts which are destabilizing the Middle East. "President Obama spoke directly with His Majesty the King and other GCC leaders, affirming the US commitment to the security and stability of the Arabian Gulf region", he said. He described the presence of the US 5th Fleet in the Arabian Gulf as symbolizing the American unwavering commitment to maintain regional security and stability. He underlined his country’s strenuous efforts to stave off the specter of the Iranian nuclear threats through diplomacy, pointing out in this regard the framework agreement which was reached recently between the P5+1 Group and Tehran regime.
