74 dead in football violence in Egypt

TEHRAN,Feb.2(MNA)-- At least 74 people are dead after violence erupted at a football match in Egypt on Wednesday. The tragedy happened as a team in Port Said was playing a club from Cairo when fans invaded the pitch, some wielding knives. The army has deployed troops in Port Said. Egypt has announced three days of mourning. The cabinet was to hold a crisis talks on Thursday. The deputy health minister says it's the nation's worst football disaster. Both Egypt’s parliament and the state prosecutor have demanded an inquiry into the violence. The new parliament said it would convene an emergency session after the country's football soccer association called for an indefinite suspension of the annual championship.
