Baku says will not allow its soil to be used against Iran

TEHRAN, March 13 (MNA) – Azerbaijani Defense Minister Safar Abiyev said that his country, under no circumstances, will allow any country to use its soil against Iran . Abiyev made the remarks during a meeting with Iranian Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi in Tehran on Monday. The Azerbaijani defense minister described Iran as the most powerful country in the Muslim world and said that Azerbaijan needs the support of the Islamic Republic. The enemies are seeking to damage Tehran-Baku relations, he said, adding that the two countries, through properly managing the media, should prevent the enemies from exploiting the situation. In the meeting, Vahidi called for the consolidation of Iran-Azerbaijan ties and said that the enemies cannot damage the relations due to the determination of the two countries’ leaders. Late on Monday, Abiyev met with Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and held talks on various issues, including the latest developments in the region and the world.
