Court issues verdict on Yemeni Muslim Brotherhood organisation

ABU DHABI, 14th June, 2016 (WAM) – The State Security Circuit of the Federal Supreme Court yesterday handed down a series of sentences ranging from acquittal to life imprisonment to a group of 15 Yemeni and four Emirati defendants in the case of the 'Yemeni Muslim Brotherhood’. The group was accused of setting up a branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, which is banned in the UAE and raising funds and donations without a licence. The court ordered confiscation of AED3 million belonging to the group and of the seized devices. In the case of collaborating with a terrorist organisation, the court sentenced the first defendant F. A. S, an Arab, to five years imprisonment on the charge of collaborating with the Al Nusra Front terrorist group. He will be deported after serving his sentence.
