Foreign seminary students protest Quran desecration in Afghanistan

QOM, March 1(MNA) – A number of foreign seminary students staged a demonstration in the holy city of Qom on Wednesday condemning the desecration of the holy Quran by U.S. troops in Afghanistan. A number of demonstrations have been staged across Afghanistan since February 21, when it first emerged that the copies of the Quran and other religious materials had been thrown into a fire pit used to burn garbage at Bagram air base, a large base north of Kabul, according to AP. The seminary students chanted slogans in condemnation of the move during the demonstration. Similar demonstrations have been held across Iran over the past few days.
