Intl. conference of monotheistic women opens in Tehran
TEHRAN, Feb. 2 (MNA) -- An international conference of distinguished women who are followers of divine religions convened in Tehran on Wednesday.
In an address to the conference, Maryam Mojtahedzadeh, who is the chairperson of Iran’s Center for Women’s and Family Affairs and the secretary general of the conference, said extremist view toward women have adverse effects on women and the international community.
But the status of women can be improved through reliance on religious examples, she added.
In the modern world, women have still not attained their rightful position, which has been clearly defined by all divine religions, Mojtahedzadeh stated.
She went on to say that the theories and views about a “balanced woman” have proven ineffective, and the models drawn up based on materialistic ideas have caused confusion among women.
Today, human beings are caught in a complex web of problems, and thus good examples must be found to guide people to the divine path, and in effect, that would influence the international community, she noted.
Mojtahedzadeh also said that the exemplary women in the history of divine religions have promoted monotheistic thought and a godly lifestyle and provided examples of realizing individual talents and putting family skills into practice.
