Intl. scholars heading to Tehran for Islamic unity conference

TEHRAN,Feb.6(MNA) – Scholars from 50 countries have been invited to attend the 25th International Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran, World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought Secretary General Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri stated at a press conference in Tehran on Sunday. Organized by the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, the conference will be held from February 8 to 10 at Tehran’s Parsian Azadi Hotel. Ayatollah Taskhiri said that 271 scholars from 57 countries have been invited to attend the conference. He added that scholars from Afghanistan, Australia, Azerbaijan, Britain, Denmark, Egypt, France, Gambia, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Pakistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Sudan, Sweden, Syria, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, the United States, Tunisia, Turkey, and Yemen and 23 other countries have been invited to the gathering. Thirty Shia and Sunni scholars from various Iranian cities have also been invited to the conference, Taskhiri said, adding that potential solutions to realize the proximity of Islamic schools of thought, the promotion of unity among Muslims, and the latest developments in the Islamic world are some of the topics that will be discussed during the conference.
