Iran, Azerbaijan should not allow certain issues to damage ties

TEHRAN,March 13(MNA) – Azerbaijani Defense Minister Safar Abiyev said that security and stability in the Islamic Republic of Iran and Azerbaijan is interlinked and the two countries should not allow some issues to damage their friendly ties. Abiyev made the remarks during a meeting with Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili in Tehran on Tuesday. The Azerbaijani defense minister also said that Azerbaijan will not allow any country to use its soil against Iran. Appreciating Iran’s efforts to promote ties, Abiyev stated that the Islamic beliefs of the two countries can help promote unity between them and bring them closer to each other. Jalili said that Iran and Azerbaijan have many cultural and historical affinities and have great potential which should be used to increase cooperation in all spheres. He added that Tehran attaches high significance to its relations with Baku.
