Iran-EU relations will revert to normal: Iranian foreign minister

TEHRAN, Feb. 21 (MNA) -- Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said that relations between Iran and the European Union will be normalized. Salehi made the remarks during a speech at a two-day conference on Iran and the Economic Cooperation Organization, which opened at the Iranian Foreign Ministry’s Institute for Political and International Studies on Monday. In his speech, Salehi said, “There have been many ups and downs in the relations between Iran and the European Union, but I still believe that our relations with Europe are relations that cannot be suspended for a long period of time, and the Europeans need us. Iran needs Europe as well due to our deep-rooted relations with European countries.” “I am certain that the relationship will return back to its former state,” he said, adding, “Since I assumed responsibility at the Foreign Ministry, I have announced that one of the priorities is Iran’s neighbors and another priority is the European Union.”
