Iran proposes establishment of joint scientific committee with Russia

TEHRAN, Feb. 26 (MNA) – Iranian Science, Research, and Technology Minister Kamran Daneshjou announced on Sunday that a working group had been established with the aim of expanding cooperation with Russia in the fields of education, research, and technology. “In order to expand relations between the two countries in the field of higher education, a working group composed of higher education officials and presidents of universities have been established,” Daneshjou stated during a meeting with Russian Ambassador to Tehran Levan Dzhagaryan on Sunday. Daneshjou added that it would be better if such a working group be established in Russia very soon so that the two countries would be able to prepare the ground for a meeting of the two countries’ science ministers and lay the groundwork for the implementation of joint research projects. Ambassador Dzhagaryan commented on the presidential election in Russia, which is scheduled to be held on March 4, and said that anyone who will be elected president will seek comprehensive and increased relations with Iran. He also promised that he will pursue the issue of the establishment of a joint scientific working group with Iran.
