Iran`s Parliamentary campaign officially starts on Feb. 23

TEHRAN, Feb. 20 (MNA) – The parliamentary election campaigning officially starts on February 23 and closes on March 1, Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar announced. The election will be held on March 2. More than 5,200 candidates had registered to compete for 290 seats, but 333 candidates pulled out of the parliamentary race. “The qualifications of about 3,400 (candidates) who had registered for the Majlis election were approved by the Guardian Council. This figure accounts for about 70 percent of those who had registered for the Majlis election,” Guardian Council spokesman Abbas Ali Kadkhodaii announced on February 11.
