Manas airport should not be used against Iran: Kyrgyz president

TEHRAN, Feb. 27 (MNA) – Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev said that the U.S. air base located in the Kyrgyz Manas airport should not be used to launch an attack against the Islamic Republic of Iran. “The base in Kyrgyzstan should not be used against Iran. That is why we are talking about the necessity to withdraw foreign troops from the civil airport after 2014 and close the base,” Atambayev said in an interview with the Voice of Russia, the Trend News Agency reported on Saturday. Russia’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said on February 22 that the United States might use Manas air base for an attack against Iran.
