Mongolia might become more favorable place for filmmakers

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Minister R.Burmaa presented to the Chairman of the State Great Khural (Parliament) Z.Enkhbold the bill on Film Industry on April 28. The bill aims at exporting Mongolia’s film products, promote the film industry through legal grounds in harmony with the economic growth. The government action plan for 2012-2016 outlines an objective to establish legal regulations governing the film industry and productions, as also provided in the “State Policy on Culture”, adopted in 2012. Economic promotion and benefits, as well as tax alleviations are included in this draft law. Accordingly, any foreign investor in film industry will enjoy 40 percent payback as a government incentive. The filming equipment and other required instruments will be exempted from customs taxes, says the presenter of the bill.
