PM conveys condolences to Banharn family
BANGKOK, April 23 (TNA) -- Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-ocha on Saturday expressed his condolences and deep sorrow to family members of former prime minister Banharn Silpa-archa who passed away due to acute allergy and asthma, said a spokesman of the Prime Minister’s Office.
The spokesman said Gen Prayut sent his condolences to family members of Mr Banharn, Thailand’s 21st prime minister, who passed away before dawn, saying that the loss was heavy for the country because he was considered a senior politician who had served the country a long time.
Gen Prayut, according to the spokesman, believed what Mr Banharn did in both capacities as member of the House of Representatives and as prime minister would be “remembered by every citizen.”
Ex-prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra said in her Facebook that the loss of Mr Banharn was huge. While he was a politician, Mr Banharn utterly devoted his time to develop every area and was well respected by his and other parties members.
Another former prime minister Chuan Leekpai also sent his condolences to Mr Banharn’s family and members of his Chart Thai Pattana Party.
Mr Chuan, currently advisory chairman of Democrat Party, is presently in overseas and is scheduled to attend funeral rites next Wednesday night. (TNA)
