MOSCOW, August 3. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Armenian counterpart Serzh Sargsyan will hold talks in Moscow on Wednesday, August 10, on cooperation in various fields and on a number of pressing international and regional problems, the Kremlin press service reported on Wednesday.
Sargsyan will visit the Russian capital at the invitation of Putin. "During the summit it is planned to discuss key issues of cooperation in the political, trade, economic and humanitarian areas and promotion of integration processes in the Eurasian space," the press service said. "The two sides are expected to exchange views on a number of pressing international and regional problems."
On Monday, August 8, the Russian president will visit Baku where he will meet with Azerbaijani and Iranian leaders Ilham Aliyev and Hassan Rouhani in both the trilateral format and in the format of separate bilateral meetings.
Russian, Azerbaijani and Armenian Presidents Vladimir Putin, Ilham Aliyev and Serzh Sagsyan held a meeting on Nagorno-Karabakh in St. Petersburg on June 20. In a trilateral statement adopted at the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to normalizing the situation on the line of contact in Nagorno-Karabakh.
The situation along the line of engagement of the conflicting parties in Nagorno-Karabakh deteriorated dramatically overnight to April 2. Following fierce armed clashes along the contact line, the parties to the conflict accused each other of violating the truce.
On April 5, Russia mediated a meeting between Colonel-General Najmeddin Sadykov, the chief of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces General Staff, and Colonel-General Yuri Khachaturov, the chief of the Armenian Armed Forces General Staff, that took place in Moscow. The sides agreed to cease the hostilities on the line disengaging the Azerbaijani and Armenian troops in Nagorno-Karabakh.
