Qualifications of 70% of Iran`s parliamentary candidates approved

TEHRAN, Feb. 12 (MNA) – The Guardian Council has approved the qualifications of about 3,400 candidates who had registered to run for the parliamentary election,Iranian council’s spokesman Abbas Ali Kadkhodaii announced on Friday.
The election is scheduled to be held on March 2. The MPs will be elected for a term of four years.
More than 5,200 candidates had registered to compete for 290 seats, but 333 candidates pulled out of the parliamentary race.
“The qualifications of about 3,400 (candidates) who had registered for the Majlis election were approved by the Guardian Council. This figure accounts for about 70 percent of those people who had registered for the Majlis election,” Kadkhodaii told the Mehr News Agency.
