Reformists’ détente led to Iran’s isolation, humiliation: Iranian MP
TEHRAN, Feb. 19 (MNA) – A principlist lawmaker said the détente policy followed by reformist administration led to an “isolation and humiliation” of Iran.
“The so-called détente policy by reformists led to an isolation and humiliation of Iran,” Parviz Sorouri said in a “Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” TV program on Saturday night attended by reformist parliamentary candidate Soheila Jelodarzadeh and principlist MP Ismail Kosari.
“In the reformist administration, with a slogan of détente, we reached a full nuclear suspension” so that at the end of the reformists’ rule the then German foreign minister said “our point is not suspension” and Iran should end its nuclear activities, Sorouri said.
“The result of this cooperation and green lights of the reformist administration to the West was nothing except national humiliation and full suspension of nuclear activities,” said Sorouri, the representative of the United Front of Principlists.
He also said the more Iran cooperated with the West the country became more isolated.
“But,” he said, “whenever we acted in a position of power we progressed and whenever we acted passively we retrogressed.”
