Senior German diplomat says he has learned Ergenekon suspect was in Germany from newspapers

ANKARA (A.A) - December 14, 2011 - The German ambassador to Turkey said on Wednesday that he had learned that an Ergenekon case suspect was in Germany from today's newspapers.
Eberhard Pohl said that Bedrettin Dalan, who was a suspect of the Ergenekon case, was in Germany, and he had learned it from today's edition of Turkish newspapers.
"I am not in a position to say anything about this issue," Pohl told reporters in Ankara.
Pohl said that if Dalan said that he was under the guarantee of German judiciary, this meant that he trusted German judiciary, and its justice and transparency.
The ambassador also said he did not have any detailed information about this issue.
Turkish newspapers published stories about Bedrettin Dalan in their Wednesday's edition, and wrote that Dalan, a fugitive Ergenekon case suspect, was seen in Germany. Turkiye newspaper wrote that Dalan spoke in a live TV channel by phone the previous night, and his photograph was taken when he was having a meal with a few women. According to Milliyet, Dalan told the TV channel that he was in Germany right now and was under protection of German justice. "There is not a Red Notice about me," Dalan also said.
