Tehran`s students express support for Majlis plan to cut oil to Europe

TEHRAN, Feb. 7 (MNA) – A number of university students from across Tehran staged a demonstration outside the parliament building on Monday expressing support for the plan calling for a halt to Iran’s oil exports to certain European Union states. The EU formally imposed an oil embargo on Iran and agreed to a freeze on the assets of the Central Bank of Iran on January 23, but existing contracts will be honored until July 1. It was announced on January 5 that the Iranian parliament had been discussing a plan calling for a halt to Iran’s oil exports to the European countries that voted for sanctions on Iran’s oil industry. The demonstrators chanted “Down with the United States,” “Down with Israel,” and other slogans. They also issued a statement at the end of the event, in which they said that the sanctions imposed on the country never sap the strong determination of the great nation of Iran.
