UAE Consulate in Barcelona launches online tourist guide

BARCELONA, 14th July 2016 (WAM) --- The UAE's consulate general of the UAE has inaugurated an online Arabic tourist guide for Barcelona and suburban areas on its website to serve Emirati visitors. The move complies with directives from Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for supporting and sponsoring UAE nationals abroad at the beginning of the vacation season. The new online guide enables UAE nationals to tour Barcelona and visit archaeological sites during their stay in the city. It also introduces them to the various activities, services and shopping areas. The guide recommends restaurants and hotels that are most suitable for Emiratis in terms of average cost and provides a simple explanation of social life and the cultural activities in the Spanish city. Consul-General of the UAE in Barcelona, Salim Al Owais, said that the guide will serve as a reference for Emiratis visiting the capital of Catalonia and will help them organise their daily tours easily. He added that the consulate will send the electronic guide to the phones of all registered nationals. Al Owais stressed that it is important for nationals to register in the Tawajudi (whereabouts) service on the ministry's official website during their visit to the city. He further said it was also important that they refrain from carrying large cash amounts, pay attention to their bags and other personal belongings in public places and contact the consulate in case of emergency to report any problems they may face. During the Eid al-Fitr holiday, the Emirati consulate re-opened its information point at the Barcelona Airport, which it had inaugurated in March, to provide services and help to nationals upon arrival. The service will continue throughout the summer holiday. - Emirates News Agency, WAM – http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates/1395297734771.html
