West should not ruin atmosphere of Iran-IAEA cooperation: Iranian ambassador

TEHRAN,Feb.26(MNA)- Iranian ambassador to IAEA Ali Asghar Soltanieh commented on the commotion certain countries have raised about Iran’s nuclear program and said, “I advise other countries, particularly Western countries, to seriously refrain from making any comments that would sour the atmosphere of (Iran’s) cooperation with the agency.” “The agency should be allowed to carry out its activities professionally, impartially, and without being prejudiced by political motives because the Islamic Republic of Iran plans to continue its negotiations with the agency to help resolve issues of concern to the agency,” he added. The main bone of contention between Tehran and the West is Iran’s uranium enrichment program. Iran says all its nuclear activities are totally peaceful, and, as an IAEA member and a nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty signatory, it has the legal right to produce nuclear fuel for its research reactors and nuclear power plants.
