Zayed is a humanitarian symbol: Zayed Giving Initiative

ABU DHABI, 7th August, 2016 (WAM) -- The Zayed Giving Initiative has praised in a report the efforts and initiatives of the UAE’s founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, in the field of charity work at regional and international levels.
The report was issued to observe the 50th anniversary of the accession of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan to the rulership of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The Zayed Giving Initiative stated in its report that the 6th of August marks the golden jubilee, the era full of achievements. Fifty years ago, Sheikh Zayed, equipped with ambition and will, plowed the desert and implanted hope to yield the fruits of coexistence and tolerance in the country -- the UAE.
His name became synonymous with generosity and charity, irrespective of religion, colour or race, making him a symbol of giving and charity worldwide. Sheikh Zayed's deeds also made the UAE a major humanitarian work leader around the world. Over the years, Sheikh Zayed will continue to inspire the whole world for charity, tolerance, coexistence, humanitarian and social work.
The report included the community and humanitarian initiatives launched by the Zayed Giving Initiative over the past years that made the UAE one of the first countries when it comes to implementation of health and humanitarian programmes. These humanitarian activities helped millions of patients through the Zayed Giving convoys and projects to implement mobile hospitals and health centres in the field in various countries around the world.
It also highlighted the leading role of Emirati youth in the field of community and humanitarian services, locally and globally, in various international forums through volunteering as part of a unique and innovative model for humanitarian work.
Adel Al Shamri, Chief Executive of the Zayed Giving Initiative, said the UAE has provided a model of philanthropy at the international forums, thanks to the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who laid the foundations of the charity work in the country.
He added that the leadership takes great interest in voluntary work to the extent that it has become one of the characteristics of the people of the UAE. - Emirates News Agency, WAM –http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates/1395298563041.html
