2,300 Participants From 39 Countries At 2018 PDIT
PORT DICKSON (Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia) July 4 (Bernama) – A total of 2,300 participants from 39 countries have confirmed taking part in the 2018 Port Dickson International Triathlon (PDIT) event scheduled to take place on Saturday and Sunday (July 14th and 15th).
Port Dickson Municipal Council president Zambri Mat Kasim said among the countries participating in the 17th edition of the annual event were Hong Kong, United Kingdom, China, France, Australia, Singapore, Japan and the United States.
"Three adult categories will be contested, namely, Sprint Triathlon, Olympic Distance Triathlon and relay.
"The Kids’ Triathlon is divided into three categories, namely,10 years and below (swimming 150 metres, cycling four kilometres and running 800 metres), 12 years and below (swimming 300 metres, cycling eight kilometres and running 1.6 kilometres) while 14 years old and below (swimming for 300 metres, cycling eight kilometres and running 1.6 kilometres), "he told a media conference here today.
Zambri said 2018 PDIT offered a total cash prize of RM50,000.
He said the organisation of PDIT every year was in line with the state government's desire to further enhance the tourism industry, which was one of the sectors contributing to the economic development of the state.
"This event has had a positive impact on the economy of the population and business centres in this area. In addition, the event attracted thousands of tourists from within and outside the country to Port Dickson as a compulsory destination in Negeri Sembilan, "he said.
Avillion Admiral Cove would host 2018 PDIT.
