Abdolreza Jokar named Iran’s flag bearer at Paralympics

TEHRAN,Feb.9(MNA)--The Iran National Paralympic Committee (CPC) has announced that javelin thrower Abdolreza Jokar has been selected as the flag bearer for Iran at 2012 Paralympic Games's opening ceremony in London. Jokar claimed the gold medal for the discus throw in the 2000 Paralympic Games in Sydney. He also won the bronze medal in the Games for javelin. The Iranian athlete won his second bronze in the 2004 Paralympic Games in Athens and picked up the silver in the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games. “I am so happy because one of my greatest dreams has come true. However, it’s a tough task since the athlete who is appointed flag bearer for the event must win a medal,” Jokar said. “I will do my best to seize a medal in London. Hopefully, we will finish in the better place than in the previous Paralympics,” he added.
