Al Kharaitiyat, Al Markhiya Qualify for 3rd Stage of HH the Emir's Cup

Doha, April 25 (QNA) - Al Kharaitiyat wrapped up the line-up of the third stage of the 46th HH the Emir's Cup after beating Al Shahania 3-1 on Tuesday at Al Arabi Club's Grand Hamad Stadium in the second stage. Mohammed Al Yazeedi scored once for Al Kharaitiyat and Moroccan midfielder Rachid Tiberkanine contributed two more goals, while Argentine forward Luciano Vazquez scored the only goal for Al Shahania. Al Kharaitiyat's win set up a date with QNB Stars League fifth-place Umm Salal on Saturday in the next stage. The match was average but Al Kharaitiyat had the upper hand most of the time in terms of possession and clear chances. The game saw two penalty kicks, with one awarded to each side. Vazquez missed for Al Shahania, while Tiberkanine successfully converted his side's to wrap up the win with a third goal. Al Markhiya had earlier today qualified for the third stage on the back of a 4-1 win over Al Shamal at Grand Hamad Stadium. Mesaimeer and Al Wakrah had also qualified on Monday after respectively beating Al Ahli 3-1 in penalty kicks and Qatar SC 3-2. The third stage will be played over two days as Al Markhiya take on Al Khor on Saturday, with the winner facing Al Sadd in the fourth stage, while the winner of Al Kharaitiyat's match against Umm Salal will clash with Al Duhail. On Sunday, Mesaimeer will play Al Sailiya and the winner will face Al Gharafa, while Al Wakrah and Al Arabi will square off before the winner take on Al Rayyan in the next stage. (QNA)
