Asian Games: Qatari Athlete Abdullah Abubakr Qualifies for 800m Final

Jakarta, August 27 (QNA) - Qatari athlete Abdullah Abubakr qualified for the Men's 800m final at the 18th Asian Games which is currently held in Jakarta in Indonesia, and will last until September 2. The Qatari champion secured the first place in the semi-finals of the race today with a time of 1:48.25, while the second place went to India Manjit Singh with a time of 1:48.64, and the third place for Iraqi Hashim Jabbar after a time of 1:48.87. Qatar's Abdullah Abubakr will take part in the 800m final with fellow teammate Jamal Hairana, who qualified for the 800 m final earlier in the day, after finishing second in his group with a time of 1:47.45. The Asian Games, being hosted by the Indonesian cities of Jakarta and Palembang, are attended by more than 11,000 athletes from 45 Asian countries competing in 40 sports, including 465 competitions. Qatar competes in two sports listed for the first time in the history of the Asian Games, namely basketball 33 and air sports. (QNA)
