Asian Games: Qatari Athlete Yassir Mubarak Wins Silver in 3000m Hurdles

Jakarta, August 27 (QNA) - Qatari athlete Yassir Salem Mubarak won the silver medal in the 3000 meter hurdles, in the athletics competition of the 18th Asian Games currently held in the cities of Jakarta and Palembang in Indonesia, which will continue until the second of September.
The Qatari champion won the silver medal with 8:28.21 and finished second, while the first place went to Iranian Hussein Kihani after a time of 8:22.79, while the third place and the bronze medal went to Japanese Kazuya Shiojiri after achieving a time of 8:29.42.
This medal is Qatar's second medal today, and the seventh for the Qatari team so far, after Abderrahman Samba's 400m hurdles gold medal, Abdalelah Haroun's 400m gold medal, Ashraf Saifi's gold medal in the hammer-throwing competition, Tosin Ogunode's silver in the 100m race, Fares Hassouna's silver in weightlifting (94kg), and Hammad al-Marri's bronze medal in shooting (Double Trap).
The Asian Games, being hosted by the Indonesian cities of Jakarta and Palembang, are attended by more than 11,000 athletes from 45 Asian countries competing in 40 sports, including 465 competitions. The State of Qatar participates in the event with 222 athletes representing 20 sports federations, where they will compete in 30 different sports. Qatar also competes in two sports listed for the first time in the history of the Asian Games, namely basketball 33 and air sports. (QNA)
