Bahrain Scientific Centre hosts US astronaut

Manama, Nov. 14 (BNA): Bahrain Scientific Centre in association with the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications hosted US Astronaut Alfred Worden. Worden told the young audience about his taking part in the Apollo 15 mission, medical checkups, training, his feelings upon take-off and touchdown, and wonderful sights in outer space during the trip to and from the moon. Shaikha Moneera bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, Director of Youth Activities in the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs, on the occasion of hosting the astronaut, said this was one of the aspects of the programme offered by the Bahrain Scientific Centre aimed to familiarize young people with successful experiences in various fields including aerospace. She pointed out that hosting Astronaut Worden has left its special positive effect after meeting him directly to discover his experience in this field. Worden answered some questions posed by the young audience. Also, a short film of the trip to the moon was shown.
