Bahrain's Bodybuilders honoured

Manama, Nov. 18 (BNA): Supreme Council for Youth and Sports assistant secretary-general Abdulrahman Askar was among top sports officials welcoming members of the Bahrain national bodybuilding team upon their return from the International Federation of Fitness and Bodybuilding (IFBB) Men's World Bodybuilding Championships held in Valencia, Spain. The nationals made an honourable mark at the 72nd edition in this world-class competition and took the 65kg silver medal through Ali Al Ghassab, who finished second behind eventual winner Kyeongmo Park of South Korea, and ahead of Wangbung Cho also from South Korea. The BOC secretary-general congratulated the delegation and extended the greetings of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, and BOC President, while commending the result of Al Ghassab in his weight category. Askar asserted the outstanding reputation of Bahrain’s bodybuilders at regional and international championships, which he attributed to the hard working efforts and contributions of Bahrain Bodybuilding Federation and its president Sultan Al Ghanem. "We are fully aware that building is a game that of which results are based on the judgment of the umpires, and we are believe that Bahrain will achieve better outcome in the upcoming competitions, most specifically the 73rd World Championships that will be held in Fujairah, the United Arab Emirates next year", said a confident Askar. Al Ghanem expressed gratitude to BOC for its continued support to the federation, which resulted in this honorable result. He vowed to spare no efforts and strive in an attempt to even pull off more achievements for the Kingdom of Bahrain in future events. He said he hopes that bodybuilding would be included in the next edition of the Asian Games that will take place in China in 2022, which would give Bahrain the opportunity to compete on a different level.
