HE Sheikh Hamad bin Eid Al-Thani Wins Qatar Baja Rally

Doha, October 13 (QNA) - HE Sheikh Hamad bin Eid Al-Thani won Saturday the 3rd round of Qatar Baja desert rally. The competition featured racers from Russia, Kuwait, Oman, and Jordan competing against some of the best local talent. His Excellency won aboard the Nissan Patrol, after finishing the race in 1:56:45 hours, 37:54 minutes ahead of second-placed Nayef Al Nasser. Mohammed Al Attiyah was third, finishing the race just one second behind Al Nasser. HE Sheikh Hamad bin Eid Al-Thani led the rankings of the competition after the third round with 45 points. Adel Hussein is in second place with 40 points, despite missing out on today's round. Third place went to Saudi driver Ahmed Al Shaqawi, who has 36 points. HE Sheikh Hamad bin Eid Al-Thani expressed his delight at winning the third round and leading the standings, saying it was a first step towards winning the title. The Qatari racer noted that he faced plenty of challenges during the current round despite winning. He added that his strategy was the reason behind overcoming those challenges, despite ferocious competition. His Excellency commended his fellow racers for the effort they put out, wishing everyone well in future rounds. His Excellency also thanked Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) for their superb organization of the event. (QNA)
