Iranian sitting volleyball team defeats Russia

TEHRAN,March 4(MNA)-- Zob Ahan of Isfahan beat Russia in the Sitting Volleyball Intercontinental Cup in Cairo, Egypt on Saturday. The Iranian representative cruised past Russia in straight sets (25-17, 25-18, 25-14) in the competitions which runs to 10th March. A total of 16 men’s teams and 8 women's teams compete in the tournament. The highest placed men’s team will earn a place at the 2012 London Paralympic Games. Iran will be using the tournament as preparation for London 2012 Paralympics, now only 208 days away. “My players did well against Russia since the team is gearing up to win the Paralympic Games,” said Hadi Rezaei, Iran's sitting volleyball coach.
