Malaysian Bags Rookie Honour At Meritus F4 SEA Awards Gala 2017

  KUALA LUMPUR, June 9 (Bernama) -- Young Malaysian drivers, Muizz Musyaffa and Nazim Ahmad concluded the 2017/18 Formula 4 South East Asia Championship (F4 SEA Championship) in style after they were awarded at the Meritus F4 SEA Awards Gala 2017 Friday night. Muizz, 16, who had a stunning season after attaining two strong podium finishes in Sepang International Circuit (SIC) in the last round, was named as Third Rookie Champion behind Japanese Hibiki Taira (Second) and Kane Shepherd (First). Following his promising show, Muizz also was awarded a scholarship to pursue his racing dream. Meanwhile, 17-year-old Nazim who competed in Europe received the Best Drive award following his blistering victory in the F4 SEA opening round stage as Formula One (F1) Support Race 2017 last October. In the meantime, it was a joyous night for Chinese rising star, Daniel Cao as he bagged the Overall Champion award following an impressive performance in the 2017/18 season. Daniel also stepped up onto the stage after winning the Fastest Lap Award following his superb time recorded in Sepang and Clark International Speedway, Philippines during the championship. Apart from that, the ceremony also saw four individuals garnering awards, namely Luke Thompson of Ireland for the Best Recovery, Alessandro Ghiretti of France for the Up & Coming Talent while Best Engineer and Best Mechanic award went to Azizul Azfar and Shah Effendy. F4 SEA Championship is the Asian regional championship of the International Automobile Federation's (FIA) for young aspiring drivers aged between 15 and 19 to embark into FIA's major competitions such as GT racing or Formula One (F1).
