Qatar Beats Iran to Win 2018 Asian Volleyball Cup

Taipei, August 15 (QNA) - Qatar won the 2018 Asian Volleyball Cup title after defeating Iran 3/2 in the final on Wednesday, in the championship that was held in Chinese Taipei. Qatar topped Group C with victories over Vietnam and Thailand. The Qatari team defeated South Korea in the quarter-final. In the semi-final, Qatar defeated Japan, winner of 2015 and 2017 editions, 3/1 on Tuesday to qualify for the final. Iran topped Group B with victories over Australia and Taiwan, before beating Vietnam in the quarter-final and defeating Taiwan in the semi-final. In the final match, Iran won the first and second sets 25/23, 25/21, but the Qatari team fought back and won three sets in a row 25/22, 25/18, and 15/10 to win the championship. (QNA)
