'Sleepy' Adam Ready to Revel in The Wet

SEPANG, Nov 2 (Bernama) -- National Moto3 ace Adam Norrodin may have been sleepy, but it didn’t stop him from revelling on the wet track in Free Practice 1 (FP1) of the Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix 2018 at the Sepang International Circuit here Friday. He felt so much at home on the wet track that he reckons it will give him an advantage on race day on Sunday. Adam, who admitted to feeling sleepy after taking painkillers ahead of his two free practice runs today to lessen the pain on his shoulder and knee due to a crash in the Japanese GP last month, was in his element in FP1 in the morning. The Petronas Sprinta Racing ace clocked 2:25.794s to be fifth fastest in wet conditions. Although he clocked his fastest time of 2:15.741s in FP2, he had to be contented with being only 22nd fastest in dry condition. “I took some painkillers this morning. While it eased my pain a bit, it also made sleepy. Maybe I won’t take it tomorrow when I race in FP3,” he said. “Thank God I did well in FP1 under wet condition. I went out early today focused on wanting to improve on my time and I am happy I was fifth fastest. “I was hoping for dry condition in FP2. Initially it was dry but I encountered some engine problems, so I pitted. When I went out again, it suddenly rained and that proved to be a dampener. Anyway, I feel good riding on a wet track,” he said. Adam, however, was quick to add that he was ready to race in any weather condition and track surface. He said that although his bike performed way better in wet condition, he felt that it would be better to race on a dry track on race day as it would reduce the various risks. “Frankly, I can race in any type of weather conditions. For now, my bike’s speed is quite good on a wet track but if the track is dry it could provide for a spectacle, apart from cutting down the risks,” he added. -- BERNAMA
