South Korean President Moon Jae-in plants a commemorative tree during a visit to the Jangjin Lake Battle Monument at the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Quantico, Virginia, as the first schedule of his four-day visit to the United States for summit talks with U.S. President Donald Trump. The monument honors the fierce battle between U.S. Marines and North Korean and Chinese soldiers near Jangjin Lake in North Korea's South Hamkyong Province in the winter of 1950 during the Korean War. The campaign eventually enabled some 100,000 civilians, including Moon's own parents, to evacuate from the North Korean port of Hungnam to South Korea. (Yonhap) (END)
